Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Dec 15
Pine, crushed flowers, mint and sweet red berries are some of the scents that emerge from the 2011 Barolo Castellero. Although not particularly expressive of this Monforte site, the 2011 is nevertheless a pretty Barolo. A spine of firm yet nicely balanced tannins gives this mid-weight Barolo its persistence. Saline notes add nuance on the precise finish. The higher altitude of Castellero appears to have been a benefit in 2011. This is very nicely done.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
